Is my tree dangerous?

Select what you see on the tree and get an immediate outline explanation, an urgency rating and the method that reliably establishes its condition. The check is indicative and does not replace an on-site inspection.

Most common signs and urgencyFungal fruiting bodies at the base of the trunk may indicate root or butt rot: urgent inspection. A leaning tree with lifted soil at the roots points to incipient windthrow: urgent. A crack along the trunk means possible structural weakness: urgent inspection. A cavity or opening in the trunk is not dangerous in itself, but requires assessment of the remaining load-bearing shell. Deadwood in the crown is common in old trees; its extent sets the urgency. Sudden yellowing of leaves out of season is often a sign of soil stress, and exposed or damaged roots reduce anchorage and recovery capacity. No remote tool replaces a site visit.

This check gives indicative information and does not replace an on-site inspection by a certified arborist.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about dangerous trees

What are the signs that a tree is dangerous?

The most serious are fungi or fruiting bodies at the trunk base and on roots, a new lean with lifted soil, deep longitudinal cracks, large dead branches above places where people gather, and root damage from excavation. With these signs we recommend a professional inspection without delay.

Can I assess a tree myself?

You can spot symptoms yourself, and that is a useful first step. Internal decay and root stability cannot be seen from outside, and a decision to retain or remove a tree, especially by roads, playgrounds and buildings, requires professional judgement and, where needed, instrumental measurement.

Do yellow or brown leaves mean the tree is diseased?

Not necessarily. Premature yellowing and browning are most often signs of stress (drought, compacted soil, root damage or a heatwave) rather than disease of the plant itself. If it recurs over several seasons or comes with twig dieback, the soil and roots need assessing.

Let's talk about your trees

We work with cities, municipalities, public institutions, designers and owners of valuable trees. For a quote, send us the basics: which tree or planting it concerns, where it is and what worries you.

How a quote comes about

Price depends on the number of trees, the methods required and the depth of documentation, so we do not publish it in advance. After an introductory call and basic site details you receive a written quote with a clear price and timeline. For public-sector clients we prepare documentation in tender-ready form.
